Abstract (EN)
Memory studies are mostly discussed in the fields of philosophy, sociology, history, and psychology in a conceptual way, and have been the subject of various discussions and conceptualizations, especially in the Western literature. It can be said that memory notion based on Aristotle's (384-322 B.C.) Parva Naturalia and Plato's (423-347 B.C.) dialogues such as Menon, Theaitetos and Phaidros in terms of basic referances. Since the ancient philosophers who focused on memory and rememberance, the concept in question has been seen as a part of rhetoric and decalmation. Particularly Ad C. Herennıum De Katione Dicendi which is said to belong to Cicero (106-43 B.C.) contains the first propositions about the relationship between language, rhetoric and memory. Like Francis A. Yates shows in the Art of Memory, certain techniques were developed on memory in Medieval Europe by using concepts such as remembering, forgetting, reminiscence, image, language. On the other hand, there is an emphasis on memory in both Aristotle and Plato commentaries as well as in Sufi reasoning of Islamic philosophers such as Ibni Sina, Ibn Rushd, Ibn Arabi, and El Kindi. The main problem of this project is to investigate the fictional, typological and thematic functions of memory in Turkish novels and stories. The study will be carried out on the specific novels and stories of thirty-six authors who have written works in Turkish novels and short stories between 1872-2000 and who have founding and innovative functions in terms of their relation with memory. In the constructionof a literary work, memory has a determining effect on the meanings that appear in the theme of the work, author and reader. The main purpose of this study is to reveal thefunction, quality and appearance of this effect. Another aim of the study is to reveal the contributions of the data emerging in the fields of science such as philosophy, sociology, psychology and anthropology developed during the modernization process to the analysis between literary work and memory. Thus, the analysis of literature will gain an interdisciplinary quality.
