Abstract (EN)
This master thesis aimed to investigate the effect of fly ash in mechanical proprieties of concrete pavement. Concrete is usually the most common element in building and over the years, many solutions were developed in order to improve its qualities. We conducted a comparison between ordinary Portland cement concrete (OPCC) and fly ash used as a substitute for the cement. Then we investigated concrete mixes containing 20%, 30% and 40% fly ash as partial replacements of the cement. The concrete was tested at 7, 28 and 116 days of age and the following tests have been done: compressive, splitting tensile strength, water permeability (durability) water absorption and capillarity. We found that concrete made with 20% of fly ash is a good choice for a medium concrete class with increased durability properties and we also found out that the concrete with 30% and 40% of fly ash as a substitute of cement gain more strength with time compare to concrete without fly ash. Moreover, the use of fly ash would result in reduction of the cost of materials in construction and the reduction of greenhouse gas emission. High strength of concrete can be made and the incorporation of admixture or substitute to improve the properties of concrete.
