Abstract (EN)
In this study, the effect of game-based music activities based on the 5E learning model on the social skills of children attending music clubs in pre-schools was examined. This research is important as it provides some outcomes on the development of social skills of preschool children, which are very necessary in social life. The research was conducted in the 2022-2023 academic year at Ordu University Düriye Çetinceviz Preschool with 20 students, who are 5- and 6-year-old (Ne=10, Nc=10) enrolled in the music club. The data of the study, which used a pretest-posttest experimental model with a control group, was collected with the 'Preschool Social Skills Assessment Scale' (OSBED) (Ömeroğlu et al., 2014) and 'Checklists'. Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the difference between the pretest and posttest scores of two independent groups, and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used to compare the pretest and posttest scores of dependent groups. The level of agreement between raters regarding the checklists was calculated according to the reliability formula of Miles and Huberman (1994). In the Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test analyses, the effect size was calculated with the r value, and in Quaide's Ancova analysis, the effect size was calculated with the eta squared (η²) value. As a result of the research, it has been determined that game-based music activities based on the 5E learning model are statistically more effective in developing children's social skills than existing teaching methods.
