Abstract (EN)
Starting in Tunisia in 2010, the Arab Spring uprisings spread across the Arabic world and affected Syria as well as Egypt, Libya, and Yemen. The Assad regime was insensitive to the demands of the people seeking reforms and attempted to suppress the street demonstrations by violence, causing a civil war in the country. The major impact of the civil war in Syria on Turkey was the emergence of such non-state armed actors as PYD / YPG and ISIS, benefiting from the power vacuum in Syria. They found plenty of freedom for illegal activities in the region in a short time. The escalating tensions and conflicts in the country led to the administrative and military structuring of the PYD / YPG, the Syrian branch of the PKK, in the north of Syria. The atmosphere of pressure and violence caused by PYD / YPG and ISIS in the region forced local people to leave their homes and thousands of Syrian civilians had to migrate to Turkey. The existence of these terrorist elements along Turkey's southern borders was also a threat to Turkey. This study investigated the impact of terrorist organizations such as PYD / YPG and ISIS in the north of Syria on Turkey's border security management and the measures taken by Turkey against this threat.
