Abstract (EN)
This study examines the assertion, which has been a disputed issue between the Sunni and Shi'i-Ja'fari sects, that the Qur'an allows mut'a marriage contract. The Shi'i-Ja'fari sect cites the 24th verse of the Surah al-Nisa' (The Women), which is also known as the verse of usufruct, as the basis of mut'a's permissibility in the Qur'an. Arguments of both sides who claim that mut'a is forbidden by religion and who give fatwa to its permissibility are discussed and evaluated within the context of the 24th verse of the Surah al-Nisa'. In addition, other marriage-related issues are also discussed to provide further insight into the subject. Keywords: The Qur'an, Mut'a, Marriage Contract, Ahl al-Sunna, Shi'a.
