Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to determine the effects of alternative weed control methods on the weeds and the yield of organically grown eggplant and pepper and determined important of these methods which are used for ecological farming methods. For this reason field experiments were conducted for eggplant and pepper in University of Çukurova, Department of Plant Protection, Research and Applied Area, in 2005 and 2006, respectively. At the end of the experiments, polyethylene and straw malch were found to effectivelly control weeds in organically grown eggplants and peppers. When compairing the effects of weed control methods on the eggplant yield highest yield was obtained from the plants treated with black polyethylene mulch (3744 kg/da), followed by straw mulch (2745 kg/da). ). In peppers, with black polyethylene mulch treatment gave higest yield 2731 kg/daand followed by straw mulch 1858 kg/da.
