Abstract (EN)
Motifs have taken place in many areas as a cultural carrier with the meanings they contain and have been transferred from generation to generation. Carpet art is one of these fields. The subject of the study has been chosen as the examination of the motifs with the meaning of abundance used in Turkish carpets, which have cultural richness, and their use in textile design. In the sample group; Hand-woven carpets with motifs bearing the meaning of abundance, which were found as a result of field research in the Ankara Ethnography museum, the Ankara Foundation Works museum, the 5-volume Hand-Woven Carpets catalog published by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and various articles and theses, were selected. In the first part of the research; Information forms were created to compile the characteristics of 80 hand-woven carpets selected as a sample. The frequencies and percentages of the data specified in the information forms were taken and presented in tables. In line with all the data, the following results were obtained; It has been determined that 13 different motifs are used in the meaning of abundance in the symbolic, figured, geometric and herbal decorations of the examined carpets. Motifs with the meaning of abundance used in carpet weaving; dragon, dragon-phoenix, ram horn, snake, fish, hand, hook and look, tree of life, abundance, elibelinde, wheat, pomegranate and star motifs. It has been determined that the motifs used were mainly woven in the 18th and 19th centuries. 159 different types of motifs, which have the meaning of abundance, were determined on the carpets examined, and their drawings were made in the Corel Draw program. The motifs selected during the design phase in the second part of the research were used as a source of inspiration and were used with the theme of abundance. With the aim of using the completed designs in the field of textile design, the dressing process of the designs on the textile surfaces was made in the Photoshop program. Selected designs are produced with label weaving and digital printing technique.
