The concept of "hikmah" in the dīwān of al- mutanabbī

The present study, deals with the life education, personality, and poetry of the famous Arab poet al-Mutanabbī(d. 354/955), a prominent figure in the 10th century. It is possible to find traces of al-Mutanabbī's life in his dīwān, as well as in the biography books and the works written by some other scholars about him. It provides information about his educational background and the people who have left an imprint on his life. While his life and poetry were examined from various aspects, the concept of hikmah, which constitutes the primary subject matter of this thesis, is especially focused on. Moreover, the relationship of the concept of hikmah with other Islamic sciences is also presented concisely. Some verses containing the concept of hikmah from al-Mutanabbī's dīwān are presented together with their Turkish translation. In choosing the lines to be translated, undergraduate students potentials and capabilties are considered. Moreover, the potential impact of these lines on the prospective lives of the undergraduate students has also been considered.
