Analysis of aerobic and anaerobic capacity in elite wrestlers in terms of body composition and anthropometric measurements

Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to determine the relationship between some anthropometric and body composition parameters and aerobic and anaerobic performances of elite level wrestlers. A total of 30 male wrestlers voluntarily participated in this research. Subjects participating in the study were grouped into two groups, being free and coromen. The age ratios of the subjects participating in the study were 23.46±299 in freestyle wrestlers and 24.66±3.75 in Greco-Roman wrestlers. This work consists of four parts. In the first stage, anthropometric and body composition measurements were taken. In the second stage, aerobic measurements were taken. Third stage measurements were taken. In the fourth stage, claw, leg and back strength measurements were taken. Analysis of the data was performed in the SPSS package program. For categorical comparisons, the magnitude of the linear relationship between the continuous measure variables was examined by calculating Pearson's correlation (r) coefficient. Statistically, p<0.05 was accepted as significance level. When the findings are examined; When the correlation showing the relationship between the body compositions wrestlers and anaerobic measurements was examined, in "freestyle" wrestlers; It was observed that there was a highly significant positive correlation between lean body mass and Peak Power. In "Greco-Roman" wrestlers; There is a positive and highly significant relationship between lean body mass and Peak Power, there is a positive significant relationship between Body Fat percentage and Peak Power, Fat mass and Peak Power, it was seen that there was a highly significant positive relationship. When the correlation showing the relationship between the body compositions of freestyle and greco-Roman wrestlers and aerobic measurements was examined, in freestyle wrestlers; A significant negative correlation was found between body fat percentage and MaxVO2, and a high negative correlation was found between MaxVO2 and body fat percentage in Greco-Roman wrestlers. As a result, considering the literature results, while determining the ideal body composition in wrestlers, lean body mass should be increased rather than excess body fat ratio for performance increase. Because as the amount of lean body mass increases in the body, the amount of muscle strength will also increase.
