Abstract (EN)

This study aims at the determination of the effect f rapid loss of weight upon the physical , physiological, and biochemical parameters of the wrestlers in the national youth team .There were 40 wrestlers in the 2008 national youth team camp with an average age, height, body weight and sport experience of 19.03±0.83 years, 1,73±0,07 m, 75,19±13,82 kg, 7,25±1,51 years . The participants were asked to loose 3-5% of their body weight by the methods they previously used. All the physical, physiological, and biochemical were carried out before and after the weight loss period .The somatotypes and antropometric properties f the participants were determined by the use of Heat Carter method , Lange brand antropometric set and Skinfold . Strength tests ( paw, leg extension and back strength ) were performed by Takei brand dynamometer . The flexibility of the sportsmen were measured by sit and stretch Sargent jumping test. The respiratory functions of the lung and reaction times were determined by Cosmed market Pony FX spirometre and New Test 2000 apparatus. The protein , urea and creatin, urine in samples were estimated spectroscopically by the method described by Lowry O, Kaplan A, and Taussky HH using Schimadzu, UV 1601 spectrophotometer. (93,94,95)The data obtained were evaluated by the use of , SPSS 15.00 statistical software and the arithmetic mean (X), standard deviation values (S) were computed by "Paired-Samples T Test" at a 0.05 significance level. The results of this study revealed that the rapid weight loss in wrestlers ( 3-5 % of the total body weight within 48 hours ) resulted a significant decrease in the anaerobic power ,strength , reaction time (left audio) and respiratory capacity of the wrestlers (p<0.05). On the other hand it was observed that the rapid loss of weight caused a decrease in the urea content and a increase in creatine content (p<0.05).
