Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACTTHE DIAGNOSTIC VALUE OF TENASCIN-C, CD44 AND NM23 IN DETERMINING THE METASTATIC FEATURES OF TYPE I AND TYPE II ENDOMETRIAL CARCINOMASEndometrial carcinoma is the most common malignant tumor of the female genital tract. It has been divided into two main groups, type I and type II of which clinical stage is important for the treatment and survey of the desaese. Lymph node involvement and organ metastases increase the stage markedly. We searched the importance of immunohistochemically staining features of tenascin-C, Nm23 and CD44 to determining the metastatases.Overall 60 cases were included to this study. 15 non-metastatic endometrioid adenocarcinoma samples, 15 metastatic endometrioid adenocarcinoma samples, 15 non-metastatic serous adenocarcinoma samples and 15 metastatic serous adenocarcinoma samples that belong to pathology laboratory of Fırat University Hospital. The staining features of tenascin-C (stromal, ephitelial), Nm23 and CD44 were evaluated by immunohistochemically.Staining with tenascin-C (ephitelial/stromal), Nm23 and CD44; there were no statistically significant differences between metastatic and non-metastatic groups of both endometrioid and serous endometrial adenocarcinomas (p>0.05).As a result; we predict that Tn-C (epithelial/stromal), Nm23 and CD44 may not be useful to estimate the metastatic behaviours of both endometrioid and serous adenocarcinomas of endometrium.Key words: Endometrium, adenocarcinoma, metastasis, immunohistocemistry
