Abstract (EN)

Energy, which has become a determining factor in national and international policies, is also among the primary needs of today's societies. By the understanding the fact that built environments are responsible for approximately 40% of energy consumption, improvements to be made in this area has come to the fore, and measures to be taken at the building scale has begun to be discussed in sectoral and academic platforms. In this context, the more sensitive approach of architects to the subject, especially "architectural design", has made it necessary to produce innovative studies on this subject. In this content, in this thesis study, which sought answers to the question of what the effect of architectural design criteria on energy consumption is/could be, the place and potentials of these criteria were examined. For this purpose, this study is detailed within the framework of energy and architecture and is confined by the effect of architectural elements and design parameters on energy consumption. It is known that the protection of the natural environment, minimization of energy consumption and climate-oriented practices exist in the traditional life and design standards of every society. In this study, traditional Tabriz houses have been analyzed in the context of energy efficient building design and the design requirements of the modern world have been researched in the traditional architecture of the region. Then, considering the parameters taken into account in the design of traditional Tabriz houses, the effect of architectural elements and design parameters on energy consumption in Tabriz climate has been analyzed by the Design Builder program on a 100 m^2 box, and values special for the design of an energy efficient building peculiar to the climate subject to the thesis have been extracted. Then, based on the parameters extracted from the energy simulation analysis, two buildings have been designed and the amount of energy consumption has been calculated. With the results obtained, design criteria suitable for this climate have been put forward.
