Abstract (EN)
The objective of this study is to design new projects and methods in order to use energy more effectively and efficiently by not lowering the standards of quality and factory?s working efficiency, to reveal the cost analyses and implement them. Under the scope of this thesis, the factory which has been chosen as a reference is Ankara Türk Traktör Factory. In this thesis, the systems that use energy intensively have been scrutinized and projects regarding appropriate energy efficiency and cost analyses have been prepared. Studies that will be analyzed under the scope of this thesis include: Preventing high energy costs by using compressors with inverters, sustaining energy efficiency for heating by shifting to a radiant heating system within the production hall, heating boiler?s return water by using economizer on the present fire tube boilers with hot water, using energy that utilizes lighting more effectively by using bulbs that have high energy efficiency. Another study that has been analyzed is that responding to the need of hot water within the scope of the factory by utilizing solar energy which is amongst the renewable energy sources. In order to address this need, a solar collector system has been designed and detailed cost analysis of all the projects was prepared. When analyzing the first investment costs of these studied projects, it is concluded that they do not require high budgets for the factory but in the short-run they will bring great benefits to Türk Traktör Factory, in terms of total annual energy gains. It should be underlined that amortization periods of some projects take a very short time. When these projects are realized by the factory administration, energy that is consumed and economic losses will be re-gained into the factory structure.Key Words : Energy Efficiency, Heat Recovery, Economizer Implementation
