Enterprise risk management: An application example for universities

Risks are generally considered as a situation that prevents or disrupts the achievement of goals and objectives. Corporate risk Management is defined as a process that involves identifying and evaluating the risks and opportunities and threats of the institutions and reporting the results by implementing control activities against the risks. Although the history of CRM goes back a long time, many problems posed by the risks encountered in some institutions operating in the 2000s have led to a new perspective on increasing the importance of CRM. In our country, it has started to gain application area in public institutions within the framework of Public Financial Management and Control Law No. 5018 and related regulations, and it continues its development in integration with the internal control system. In this context, with the thesis titled "Institutional Risk Management: An Application Example for Universities", brief information about internal control and internal audit, which is directly related to corporate risk management, was given and then various concepts were analyzed by discussing them with corporate risk management details. In the last part of the study, a case study was conducted for universities, and a study was presented to them who want to work on this subject within the framework of their own capacities and practices. With this study, it was aimed to help institutional risk management to build an efficient and systematic management structure where they can spread best in universities and achieve the best achievements with the least risk. With the best implementation of corporate risk management, all institutions and universities will be ensured to achieve their goals and objectives and to sustain all business processes by minimizing the rate of disruption and error.
