Abstract (EN)
Health literacy in epileptic patients makes it easier for patients to be informed about their diseases and to comply with their treatments. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between health literacy level and quality of life in epileptic patients. Quantitative research methods were used in this research. The research method is cross-sectional descriptive. In the research, a survey was applied to 161 people diagnosed with epilepsy who applied to Balıkesir University Education Research and Application Hospital between 09.09.2020-09.09.2021. In this study, the socio- demographic characteristics and epilepsy questionnaire developed by the researcher, the Quality of Life Scale in Patients with Epilepsy (QoLIE-31) and the Health Literacy Scale (TSOY-32) were used as data collection tools. The collected surveys were entered into the SPSS 23 program and analyzed. According to the data obtained, age, gender, marital status, having children, educational status, occupation, income status, living alone, place of residence, time of epilepsy diagnosis, medication use, frequency of seizures and time of last seizure. Significant differences were detected between the scales. Finally, as a result of the correlation analysis, no significant relationship was determined between the TSOY and QOLIE-31 scales and their sub-dimensions.
