Abstract (EN)

The world systems analysis is an approach which has entered into social science literature in 1970s. According to this approach, capitalism is a modern world system with its global world economy feature spreading to the plane earth. However, the concern of epistemology is knowledge (episteme) matter. How an epistemological object can be known as appropriate for reality and are there different legitimate ways of knowing? Clearing up such matters is desired by epistemological analysis. At the world systems analysis, if achieving the reality of humane-social field at the most accurate form is demanded, important problem in terms of epistemology is knotted that reasonable epistemological object is only modern world system. According to historical social scientific paradigm, the way ?to be able to know? the reality of humane-social field the best is to analyze society units in the state?s border. When this analysis is coming true, moving from positivist epistemology modeling natural science is required. However, on the contrary, with the world systems analysis, world system not society in the framework of state relation is based on and at the anti-positivist base, an integrated analysis is realized. World system analysis which can be studied in point of various social scientific disciplines is firstly examined at doctorate thesis level by this study in terms of epistemology. The thesis statement of this study in this framework is as follows: World systems analysis which does not coincide with positivist epistemology is an alternative approach providing different epistemological proposals against historical social scientific paradigm which is structured in the positivist framework as a result of this conflict. Key Words: The World Systems Analysis, Epistemology, Modern World System, Social Sciences, Positivism
