Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study was to analyze the internet addiction and personality traits of adolecent students according to certain variables. The population of the study consists of the students studying in the 9th, 10th ,11thand 12th class in the public schools located in Birecik District in Sanliurfa Province in 2014–2015 Schoolyear. The study sample consists of a total of 592 students, including 369 females and 223 males, studying in high schools located in Birecik district. The scores obtained in the study were analyzed using the SPSS 16.0 statistical program. The normality of distribution was obtained by Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. In cases where the variances are not equal, the Mann-Whitney U Test was used for paired groups, and Kruskal-Wallis test was used for more than two groups. According to the findings; the scores obtained from the Internet Addiction Scale vary significantly depending on the variables such as the gender, type of school, school success, age and number of siblings. A low level of negative correlation was detected between the internet addiction and the personality traits. A strong positive correlation was found between the levels of the personal adaptationand social adaptation. Keywords: Internet addiction, Personality traits. Adolescents.
