Ergonomic risk analysis of working positions in a marble plant

Abstract (EN)
Musculoskeletal system disorders (MSD) are common among workers in the marble industry. The reason for this is a labor-intensive work life, inadequate ergonomic conditions, heavy lifting, physical strain, stress, and excessive frequent and repetitive movements. The purpose of this study is to analyze the working postures of workers in a marble plant. The working postures of the workers in this marble plant with 50 workers were examined using the Quick Exposure Check (QEC), Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) and Cornell Musculoskeletal System Questionnaire (CMDQ) methods. The plant consists of 3 sections: Gangsaw, Tile and Este. Since manpower is not needed much in the Gangsaw department, it was not included in our study. There are 13 stations in Tile and Este sections in total. According to the QEC method, problems were detected in remaining 10 stations, excluding Cutting 1, Cutting 2 and Polishing 1 stations. According to the RULA method, problems were observed at the remaining 11 stations, except Cutting 1 and Cutting 2 stations. According to the method of the Cornell Musculoskeletal System Questionnaire, problems were detected at the remaining 10 stations except for the Cutting 1, Cutting 2 and Bridged Cutstation, and it was found that the workers had pain in various body parts.
