A study on the effects of mother support programme applied in early childhood on mothers' child rearing attitudes

Abstract (EN)

The goal of this study is to provide mothers with a positive alternation and improvement on their attitudes towards family relations and child rearing by means of a support programme which is applied on the mothers who have children at the term of early childhood. This study has been carried out with the participation of sixty-six mothers who have 4-6 years-old children. The model of the study has been determined as an experimental pattern with a pretest and posttest control group. After the experimental and control groups have been determined in accordance with the related pattern, the experimental group has been divided into two parts,called the tutoring mother and the education group to which mothers transfer their knowledges. Family ? Child Relations Scale, Attitudes of Mother-Father Scale and Personal Information Form have been applied on all of the three groups. For 12 weeks, the education programme which is composed of 4 modules (Self-Sufficiency Training, Communication, Games, and Academical Skills Training, Sexual Development training) has been applied on the tutoring mothers group who are belonged to the experimental group by the researcher. This training has been transfered to the education group which was formed as a sub-group within the experimental group by the tutoring mother with the home visits and information leaflets. However, control group has not been intervened in any way.
