The provinces of Erzurum and Kars journal community center: Yayla and Dogus

In this study, the activities of the Erzurum and Kars Community Centres which support the cultural, social and educational development their cities with their publications along with their branch activities were focused and their media organs, namely Yayla and Doğuş Journals were examined in detail. The Yayla Journal started to be published on 19th February 1944 and its name had to be changed as ?Erzurum? after a short while. On the other hand, the Dogus Journal was first issued on 29th October 1933 and had 61 issues until 1947. The study is comprised of four sections other than the introduction part. In the first section, in order to adopt a holistic approach and follow an overall perspective, a general overview is provided about the Turkish Hearths which were established in order to make the Turkish culture more widespread and then, more detailed explanations are made with regard to how the idea of Community Centres occurred and how these centres were established, their aims, their activities conducted by their branches and how they were shut down. In the second section, overall information is provided about the Erzurum and Kars Community Centres whose publications are examined in this study. In the third section, how Yayla (Erzurum) Journal started to be published, its aims, its significance and contents are explained; and the articles published in the journal are thoroughly examined one by one; their contents are explained and some extractions are made from the articles in order to give a more detailed perspective. Some examples of literary works are also provided. In the fourth section, how Dogus Journal started to be published, its aims, and contents are explained. Then the articles published in the journal are individually examined in detail; their contents are explained and some extractions are made from the articles. While the articles in the issues are examined, how they make contributions are explained; comments are made on the ideas that are put forward in such articles; and their relations with the political will at the time are also evaluated in the study.
