Abstract (EN)

In present study, the analysis techniques and mineralogical and chemical analysis of sepiolite, which belongs to Sivrihisar region of Eskişehir, have been carried out. In the first stage of the study, the electrokinetics features have been searched along with natural sepiolite, 0.5 M and 1 M HCl activated sepiolite suspensions such as; NaCl, KCl, LiCl, BaCl2 CaCl2, MgCl2 NaNO3 Ca(NO3)2, Na2CO3 , Li2CO3 FeCl3, Al(NO3)3,,CuCl2 in mono ,di and trivalent aqueous solutions using the technique, microelectrophoresis. During the zeta potential measures, it has been identified that natural sepiolite suspensions generally to tampon ph around pH=8.5. The measures of natural sepiolite ranging from pH 2-11 have shown that the point of zero is around pH=5.5While mono and divalent cations and anions have not changed the surface charge of natural and acid activated sepiolite, trivalent cations have changed the surface charge from negative to positive. Acid activated sepiolite samples have shifted towards the positive region in nearly all electrolyte solutions when compared with the natural sepiolite. In the second stage of the study, Cu+2 adsorption have been studied on sepiolite and acid activated sepiolite samples and natural formed sepiolite has adsorbed Cu+2 cations better than acid activated sepiolite.
