Abstract (EN)

Local ground properties are one of the important parameters that cause damage at structures under dynamic loads. During a resultant earthquake, showing differences of local ground properties cause damages that arise from ground problems such as amplification, loss carrying capacity, liquefaction, subsidence at the ground. Parameter which leads determining study of checking of amplification problem at ground is shear wave velocity of ground (Vs). Shear wave velocity of ground value is determined by making required big workforce, time consuming and costly experiments such as seismic refraction and down hole seismic at field. Therefore empirical formulas that were proposed depending on N blow count which was obtained from standard penetration test (SPT) by different scientist appear at literature. In this thesis study, all empirical approaches which were proposed depending on SPT-N for all ground at literature was evaluated with Geographic Information System (GIS) and Statistical Analysis methods. . At the end of this evaluation, the most suitable empirical approach for he Eskisehir ground was determined from empirical approaches that were given depending on SPT-N at literature. Continuation of the study, by training determined real Vs values with seismic refraction method at 23 different points in Eskisehir, coordinates of these values and obtained SPT-N count values from borehole at that point at artificial neural networks, models were generated for 0-10 meter, 10-30 meter and 0-30 meter. Present studies are proposed to make amplification analysis of ground by determined of shear wave velocity in 30 meter in ground. By using these models that were generated within the scope of this thesis study, especially for the 0-30 meter depth, Vs predicted values can be obtained with %94 accurately depending on location and number of SPT-N. This thesis study is lead to reduction of disaster damages and determining of safe settlement area for Eskisehir city.
