Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to enable IPv6 router auto-configuration inIPv6 networks. IPv6 host auto configuration is part of IPv6 specification fromthe start but IPv6 routers still needs manual configuration. This situation is notonly unacceptable for home and small office networks; it also complicates themanagement of complex corporate networks. To enable easy and ubiquitousdeployment of future IPv6 networks, there is a need for an IPv6 router autoconfiguration protocol to complement IPv6 host auto configuration protocol tomake IPv6 networks truly plug-and-play.In this study two approaches are proposed. First one is assigningunique subnets to all links in the network. Second approach is assigning asingle subnet to all links. Both approaches are firstly applied to single-routernetworks. Then these solutions are extended to multi-router networks. Single-router auto configuration is straightforward but in multi-router configurationthere are more challenging points like host awareness and subnet conflicts. These concerns are solved with the use of link-state routing algorithms asproposed in the study. Keywords: IPv6, Router Auto Configuration, Multilink Subnet, ZeroConfNetworks, SOHO Networks
