Evaluating serum gdf-15 level in a group of hypertensive Iraqi patients on various drug therapy

The GDF-15 (Growth Differentiation Factor) is a cytokine receptive to tension. It is mainly expressed in cardiac myocytes, adipocytes, macrophages, endothelial cells, and vascular endothelial cells that are regular and pathologically formed.GDF-15 increases, and is correlated with cardiovascular risk. The research aims to examine the effect of certain antihypertensive drugs on the level of GDF-15 in variable-duration hypertensive patients. The patient group included 155 subjects have a hypertensive level, and 40 healthy subjects. The mean range age of the patients was (45,75 year). In the estimation of the effect type of drugs on the concentration of GDF-15 with the control group using SPSS version 25. There was no significant correlation between GDF-15 concentration in the control group and GDF-15 concentration in the type of drug groups, (ACE+ARBs inhibitor, calcium channel, b-blocker, a combination of drugs) have p-value equal (0.854, 0.558,0.213,0.401). it is worthwhile that the criteria of meaningful statistics are considered when p>0.05, Also, there is no significant correlation between concertation of GDF-15 in all the types of drugs with age and body mass index and all parameters. in this review, no study has discussed the effect of antihypertension drugs on the level of GDF-15. In the current study, There are no significant differences between hypertensive patients in the studied hypertensive population in serum GDF-15, regardless of the level of the existence of antihypertensive drugs.
