EVALUATION OF THE PSYCHOMETRIC FIT OF THE TURKISH VERSION OF THE PERCEPTION OF CARE IN ACUTE SITUATIONS SCALE

Aim: This study was conducted to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the Perceived Ability to Provide Care in Acute Situations Scale (Novice Nurses’ PCAS). Material and Methot: This is a methodological study. The study population consisted of nurses working in public and private hospitals throughout Turkey with less than 12 months of professional experience. The sample consisted of a total of 280 nurses meeting the same experience criteria. Data were collected between January and August 2025. Descriptive forms and the Acute Care Perception Scale were used to collect research data. Content and construct validity, item analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and internal consistency analysis were used to evaluate the data. Results: As a result of the reliability and validity analyses, the overall Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.973. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed that one item was removed due to a low factor loading, and the remaining 16 items were grouped under three subdimensions. The model demonstrated acceptable fit indices, with values of CMIN/DF=3.831 and RMSEA=0.096. Based on these findings, the scale was concluded to be a valid and reliable measurement tool. Conclusion: In conclusion, the Turkish version of the scale was found to be at an acceptable level and exhibited sufficient psychometric properties in terms of validity and reliability. It is believed that the scale can be used as a valid and reliable measurement tool.
