Abstract (EN)

Globally limited water resources are unevenly distributed on earth. Access to clean drinking water is still difficult for many people, as surface waters essential for human consumption are often polluted by various factors. This study aims to evaluate water quality according to the analysis results (aluminum, ammonium, iron, pH, water conductivity, and microbiological analyses) of drinking water samples taken at different times from ten different points in Çankırı Central district. According to the analysis results, a slight pH increase was recorded according to WHO/EPA standards, which may be caused by improper water distribution. In August and June 2023, coliform bacteria concentrations exceeding the acceptable limit value (0 CFU/100 ml) (62 CFU/100ml and 26 CFU/100ml) were found in the water samples of the Büyük Mosque and Vocational School. These values may result from inadequate drinking water treatment, a faulty water distribution system, or inadequate sanitation. Additionally, a significant increase above the TS266 standard was observed in Aluminum values measured in July 2023 at 3 sample points (230, 240, and 300 μg/L). These increases have been attributed to precipitation, temperature increases, and changes in basin flow during summer months, and human activities. Since it has been suggested that there is a possible relationship between exposure to Aluminum, a neurotoxic substance, and the risk of Alzheimer's disease, it would be beneficial to take the necessary precautions.
