Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to reveal gender roles of married men in the process of constructing hegemonic masculinity in the social sphere, the construction of masculinity and femininity, their perspectives on marriage and divorce, violence against women, and their attitudes towards femicide related to divorce claim. In this qualitative research, life experiences have been obtained from the interviews with 28 men for 20-40 minutes through a semi-structured interview form. The life history as a method has been used and the interviews have been analyzed with content analysis. As a result of this research, it has become possible to make two classifications about the interviewees. It has been understood that the group, which can be considered as a relatively new generation whose level of education and consciousness are better, is realistic and moderate towards divorce, and they have made meaningful determinations regarding violence against women and femicide. It has been observed that the men in the second group internalize traditional patterns and adhere to patriarchal ideology and gender norms. Men in this group consider that men are superior in terms of gender roles and equality, and find men justified in denial of femicide and divorce. Men refusing to divorce and killing their spouses who want to divorce have recently increased. According to the findings obtained from the interviews, the main reason under the "divorce murders" is that men are brought up according to gender roles. In the patriarchal social structure, a superior position is attributed to men and women are raised as objects dependent on men. "Divorce murders" also appear as a manifestation of masculine possessiveness. The findings obtained from the interviews have been discussed within the frame of the literature.
