Abstract (EN)

The idea of education, which varies depending on cultural, historical, and geographic contexts, has been institutionalized through schools in order to prepare students for adult life. The K12 Education System, used under the current Turkish Education System after studying the European model, strives to support students' academic, social, and emotional growth. However, Turkey's K12 educational procedures fall far too short of conducting comprehensive school-wide studies, especially in the sense of kinesthetic learning necessities of specific age groups. The limitations on student movement caused by educational procedures that are fixed in the classroom environment hinder the benefits that can be achieved through movement. Zafer College Campus is chosen as a case study for this thesis as a result of its in-between spaces of classrooms which enable students to experience and observe other methods of learning among themselves, by their own bodies and through environmental interaction. This examination, which explores Zafer College as a case study and analyzes the school environment through walking, which is the most fundamental physical action for all living things, provides conceptual words for the perfect educational environment. As a result the spatial qualities of the campus, the program of the school and students' movement are overlapped in a design matrix in order to propose a framework for walking / movement-based learning space design.
