Abstract (EN)
Human rights violations, maltreatment and abuse are experienced on a daily basis worldwide by female migrant care workers. This thesis aims to bring female migrant care workers' experiences to the center by utilizing Filipinas' experiences while unfolding international organizations' dedicated institutions and legal frameworks that aim at protecting women's rights in general and their rights as female migrant care workers in various countries. To reach the stated aim, this thesis employs a feminist human security perspective throughout every section. Rather than employing one single method, feminist way of "storytelling" and other feminist ways of doing research were adopted while writing this thesis. To address the mentioned concerns, first, feminist security studies and feminist security theory is discussed. Then, fundamental concepts like gender and theoretical implications are articulated. With an aim to build the connection between migration and care, the concept of feminization of migration is discovered and existing international structures to support women's and especially female migrant care workers' rights are analyzed. After providing background information on the Philippines, Filipina migrant care workers' experiences are discussed as a case study. The thesis is concluded by providing recommendations to IOs, IGOs, I/NGOs and grassroots organizations. Keywords: female migrant care workers, Filipina care workers, international assistance, rights-based protection, UN, I/NGOs
