Abstract (EN)
Social events on Facebook have become one of the well-known activities carried out on Facebook because of the popularity in the world. Facebook serves as medium to announce events or invite people to an event. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of announcement of social event made on Facebook and to know if people really feel invited if announcement is done on Facebook. Quantitative methodology is used for this study in which the total number of 300 hundred students from Eastern Mediterranean University in fall semester 2018 participated. The total number of students as of the time is around 20,000. The questionnaire comprises of 35 questions and it is an in-house questionnaire. The questionnaire comprises three sections the demographic information, about Facebook and social events, statements organized according to five point Likert scale questions. The data obtained through the study is analyzed through descriptive statistics. The findings indicate that a considerable number of Eastern Mediterranean University students use Facebook to announce their social events and is very effective due to the fact that they feel invited if social events are announced on Facebook among their friends and families.
