Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between perceived parental behaviours of 10 th grade students from different educational programs and their levels of social competence.This research has been applied to 378 high school students attending Kırşehir city center high schools (vocational, normal, Anatolian, science and super high school) during 2006-2007. Data about students related to gender, school, age, the number ofchildren in the family, birth order, fathers? education level, mothers? education level and mothers? work situation were determined by using ?Personel Data Form? prepared by the investigator, levels of social skill were determined by ?Social Skill Inventory? modified for (translated to) Turkish by Yüksel (1997), perceived parents behaviours? were determined by ?Perceived Parents Behaviours Inventory? modified for Turkish by Yeşilyaprak (1988).In this study, the results were analyzed by using SPSS 12.0. It was stated that there was no significant difference when it was p> 0,05 and there was a significant difference when it was p< 0,05 at the significant level 0,05.The results are presented(shown) by the tables in accordance with the aims of the study.According to the results of the research, a meaningful relationship hasn?t been found between social skill scoring and total mothers? behaviour scoring. There has been found a significant relationship between total score of father behaviours. Moreover, a meaningful relationship hasn?t been found between total score of mother behaviour and total score of father behaviour.The scores of sub-measures of perceived father-mother (parents?) Interest and Affection are significantly correlated with the students? Emotional Sensivity, Social Expressivity and Social Control. There has been stated a meaningful relationship between Scores of Assistance for Achieving perceived Parental objectives and the students? Emotional Sensivity, Social Expressivity and Social Control scores. There has been found out significant relationship between both Perceived Mother and Father Consistent Discipline scores and the students? Emotional Expressivity, Emotional Sensivity, Social Expressivity, Social Sensivity, Social Control scores. Perceived Mother Support scores are correlated negatively with the students? Emotional Sensivity and Social Sensivity scores and positively correlated with Emotional Control score. . It is observed that there is a negative relationship between Perceived Father Support and the students? Emotional Expressivity and Social Sensivity scores. Perceived Parental Physical Punishment scores are positively correlated with the students? Emotional Sensivity and Social Control scores. A meaningful relationship hasn?t been found out between Perceived Parental Physical Punishment scores and the students? Emotional Expresivity, Emotional Control, Social Expresivity and Social Sensivity scores. Perceived Mother Pressure for Success scores are correlated negatively with Social Expresivity scores of the students and Perceived Father Pressure for Success scores are correlated negatively with the students? Emotional Sensivity and Social Expresivity. Perceived Mother Emotional Punishment scores are correlated negatively with Emotional Sensivity and Social Sensivity scores of the students.According to the school types Emotional Expresivity scores of the student groups from Anatolia-science and super high schools are higher than the other high schools.It is stated that Social Control scores of the students from normal high school are higher than the scores of the vocational high schools. Between school types Perceived Mother Support scoresof the students from a groupAnatolian-science-super high schools are higher than the other high schools. It has been found out that Perceived Father support scores in a group of Anatolia-science-super high schools are higher than normal high schools. And also Perceived Mother Pressure for Success scores in a group of Anatolia-science-super high schools are higher than normal high schools.
