Abstract (EN)
A significant portion of the produced energy remains untapped due to the waste heat generated by energy production from fossil fuels. The aim of this study is to utilize waste heat as an energy source, by integrating thermoelectric generators with phase change materials to generate electrical energy. Within the scope of this project, the continuity of electricity production is ensured both when the waste heat source is present and absent. Additionally, the impact of two different phase change materials with varying properties on electricity generation under the same conditions is investigated. As part of the research, two separate experiments, each consisting of two distinct phases, were conducted. These experiments were performed under the same conditions and durations for both forms of phase change materials. It was observed that both phase change materials enabled higher and more prolonged electricity generation. It was also found that the phase change materials prevented temperature fluctuations on the cold surfaces of the thermoelectric generators, maintaining a more stable temperature range. Upon examining the findings, it was concluded that this designed system could be used for electricity generation in low-temperature waste heat applications. The study offers a perspective on energy efficiency and sustainable energy production through integrated systems of thermoelectric generators and phase change materials. The combined use of thermoelectric generators and phase change materials demonstrates the potential for continuity of electricity generation through the efficient utilization of waste heat sources contributing to the literature in this field. It is believed that the findings of this research and the recommendations for future studies will aid in the development of new approaches in subsequent research efforts.
