Abstract (EN)

It is purposely accustomed that more than one parameter is being employed in welding of steel materials. Although, each of these parameters are believed to be important for the formation of weld metal, the actual effect of each parameter on final strength and microstructure is not properly addressed despite of welding being a one of the major processing tools. Instead, a few coarse parameters, such as welding current, were used to study. In fact, the microstructure, having a major effect amongst the parameters on the strength of materials, while expected to play a leading role in the design of welds, is not well represented in carbon equivalent equations and modeling studies. In this project, the parameters that link the welding of steels with varying strength levels and therefore having different compositions to microstructure will be produced to use in the modeling of steel weld metals. The effect from heat evolution during the welding has been limited by keeping the dimensions and the thicknesses of the parts being welded and the parameters were selected within large values such that the effect of modeling were desired to be strong enough. It is also wished that a strong analysis mothod, Taguchi, was also intended for full analysis of the data to be obtained.
