A study on the life and works of Fazıl Ahmet Bahadır

The aim of a national literature is to address national issues, to reveal the cultural values of the people living in the society and to transmit a national memory to future generations. As a national poet, Fazıl Ahmet Bahadır is quite conscious of this issue in his works. It ise seen that there has not been a comprehensive academic study on the poet, who has poems that are remakable and should be emphasized in the Turkish society and Turkish history. In this study, the life and works of Fazıl Ahmet Bahadır, about whose life there is no detailed information, are emphasized. In our study, first of all, until Fazıl Ahmet Bahadır, who and how the national issues were handled in Turkish literature were evaluated and then information about the poet's life was given. Subsequently, the poet's poems were thematically classified and analyzed. Finally, the issues that stand out as language and style in Fazıl Ahmet Badır's works are explained with examples. In the last part of the study, it was determined with which poets who discussed national issues in Turkish literature Fazıl Ahmet Bahadır met in common points and it was found appropriate to evaluate him as "the last epic poet" with the issues he showed in his works.
