Abstract (EN)

The place of the subject of sound in science and physics education is very important. The main concepts of this subject are transferred to the student with certain steps at different levels of education. The fact that there are still misconceptions among students about the concepts in the subject of sound from primary school to undergraduate level is very important in terms of determining these misconceptions and shaping the education within this framework. When the studies conducted in the literature on the subject of sound are examined, it is seen that there are studies that test the learning status of concepts related to sound within the subject using different teaching methods. It has also been seen that there are studies that try to determine misconceptions about sound. However, the studies were limited to certain groups and were generally studied with small number of samples. For this reason, the aim of this research is determined as determining the thoughts of science teacher candidates studying in the science teaching program of Balıkesir University Necatibey Faculty of Education about the subject of sound. For this purpose, the data in the study were collected with Sound Concept Test consisting of 7 open-ended questions. When the obtained results are taken into consideration, it is seen that the teacher candidates have conceptual problems regarding the basic concepts of the subject of sound. In addition, it is also seen from the explanations made by the teacher candidates that they have misconceptions regarding the basic concepts of sound.
