Examination of the opinions of preservice science teachers on digitalization and the use of digital technology in education

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to learn about the digitalization and development of science teacher candidates in education attitudes towards digital technology and how this technology is used in education and science is to examine their views on its use in classrooms. For this purpose the research was carried out by Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal in the 2022-2023 academic year. With a total of 121 science teacher candidates studying at has been carried out. In the first step of the study, the opinions of all candidates were taken. In the following stages, the number of teacher candidates within the scope of purposeful sampling, was narrowed down by the determination of volunteer students. In this way, candidates detailed analysis of their opinions. Science within the scope of research "Attitude Scale Towards Digital Technology" to prospective science teachers (DTYTÖ), "Digital Technology in Science Education Written Interview Form" (FEDT-YGF), "Digital Technology Use in Science Education Interview Form" (FEDTK-GF), "Digital Technology Classroom Design Form in Science Education" (FEDTS-TF) has been applied. The obtained quantitative data were calculated by frequency, percentage and chi-square calculations using the SPSS statistical package program, their significance values were included and tabulated. Qualitative data, on the other hand, were analyzed by the content analysis method of the answers and drawings received from the pre-service teachers, and themes and sub-themes were formed by coding the data. All the answers given by the pre-service teachers within the scope of the research were examined by considering the grade levels and frequencies, and evaluations were made. When the data obtained from DTYTÖ, FEDT-YGF, FEDTK-GF, FEDTS-TF were examined, it was determined that there was a significant relationship between the views of pre-service science teachers on digital technology in education and digital technology in science education in terms of grade levels, and their views on using digital technology in their own science classes in their professional life were positive. It has been concluded that the views of pre-service science teachers vary according to their grade levels.
