Abstract (EN)

Primary education programme in Turkey in 2004-2005 academic year has been restructured. This radica and comperehensive reform in the education program necessitated the changer in the process of measure and avaulation. For this reason, OKS (Secondary Education Exam) which is applied to place the students to high school was replaced by SBS.In order to apply the new exam system successfully and to find solutions if there is any failure in application, the ideas of the students and teachers are considered important. With this purpose in this study the appinions of the science and technology teachers and students about SBS were identified. Moreover, whether these apinions vary according to various demographic characteristics was examined. This study is a research based on screening model which aims to determine the teachers' and students' views on SBS that is applied to 8th grade students. This research took place in the province of Kocaeli. Its universe consists of science and technology teachers working in Kocaeli and of the secondary school students. The sampling group consists of science and technology teachers working in the primary schools and of the 8th grade students. In order to collect data, two different questionnaires were developed: ?Sorvey of Teachers? and ?Questionnaires of Students?. These surveys were applied to 220 Science and Technology teachers and 650 8th grade students. As some of the questionnaires didn?t come back and some of them were filled carelessly and deficiently, 187 of the ?Sorvey of Teachers? and 530 of the ?Questionnaires of Students? were evaluated. The data obtained was analyzed with SPSS for Windows 11.5 programme.According to the results of this study, ıt is stated that the application of SBS in 6th, 7th and 8th grade is a more equitable and compensatable technique in highscool placements. However, it is stated that SBS causes exam stress and anxiety at early ages. It is also indicated that according to the teachers, science and technology questions in SBS overlop partially with that year?s gains. According to the students, the questions asked in SBS where about the subjects which were studied in science and technology lessons. In addition, meaningful differences according to demographic features were found in the opinions of the teachers and students.
