Abstract (EN)
Lexicology or lexicography is a science which, with the modern understanding, has been a distinct area of language studies since the 19th century. Dictionaries are the most basic reference sources for accessing the vocabulary of a language. These works, which are a source of reference for those interested in human and social sciences as well as meeting the interests and needs of those dealing with the field of language, also record the cultural values of the society to which they belong and transfer them to generations. Furthermore, dictionaries have a serious function as a source of multifaceted studies at the point of following the change and development of words over time and their spread areas within that language. Turkish language has a rich corpus of dictionaries created with different purposes and methods since historical periods. The number and quality of studies and analyzes on dictionaries have increased in recent years. One of these fields of study is thematic classifications, the main purpose of which is to provide socio-cultural inferences on the society using that language, especially language. In my research on the subject, I have seen that the majority of thematic studies focus on nouns and noun-derived words. Of course, the thematic study of the verbs as well as the nouns of the dictionaries, which are the memory of Turkish, will lead to more holistic results. Based on this idea, I decided to make a thematic evaluation on the verbs of Fethali Kaçar's Luġat-ı Etrākiyye, Chagatai Turkish Dictionary. This study aims to contribute to the thematic classification of verbs and dictionary studies. Farhad Rahimi's Fethali Kaçar's Chagatai Turkish Dictionary is the source of this study. The study consists of three main sections. The first section is on Chagatai Turkish and its periods. The second section is on dictionary, lexicology, and thematic studies on Chagatai Turkish. The last section is a thematic classification of the verbs in the dictionary. After the verbs in the dictionary are scanned, the verbs are analyzed in the context of the examples and divided into various themes.
