ABSTRACTPostgraduate ThesisEntrepreneurship As Firm BehaviorYasemin DEM ROĞLUDokuz Eylul UniversityInstitute Of Social SciencesDepartment of ManagementToday, with globalism, competition has been increased gradually.With disappearence of economic boundaries, many organization had tocompete with new and strong competitors in the market where they wereactive. For this reason, some of the organizations which losed their marketshare, are downsized or went bankrupt, the others tried to take competitor?smarket share. In this new environment, when we examine successfullorganizations, we can say that; they are entrepreneurial, in other words;innovative, creative, risk taking, proactif and competitive.When we think of entrepreneurship, first individual entrepreneurshipoccur to us, but entrepreneurship is also an organization process. In thisstudy, entrepreneurship as firm behavior has been researched and thedifference between individual entrepreneurship is explained.Corporate entrepreneurship is a strategic concept that means firm?screative, innovative, competitive, proactif and risk taking.ndividual entrepreneurship is to take the advantage of theopportunities, taking risk, catching innovations and the process of thoseformation. It is trying something that is not existing before, and beingcreative. It provides formation of new business areas.Today, to grow and adopt to the changes that are fastly developing,firms must act as entrepreneurial. Large and famous firms like IBM, Sony,Siemens increased their performance with their entrepreneurial behaviors.Entrepreneurial organizations frequently present new products to themarket, consider important Research and Development (R&D) activities,They are not reluctant to put projects with high risk and high yield. They arefirst in the market; begin activities that competitors will react then.In developing countries, as Turkey, to compete with the global world,firm managers are supposed to act fastly than their competitors. This will bepossible with increases for the sake of being an entrepreneurial organization.In this study, characteristics of an entrepreneurial organization havebeen determinated and results have been examinated.Key Words: 1) corporate entrepreneurship 2) entrepreneur3) risk taking 4) innovativeness5) competitiveness
