A research on the effect of institutionalization level on competitiveness in firms

Main aim of this thesis study is to study if institutionalization level in firms affects by competitiveness, if so to research in what level it is. Also other aim of the study is to set forth relations between institutionalization facts and competitiveness facts. Institutionalization facts and competitiveness facts have been determined with factor analysis by using varimax rotation method. Accordingly, cultural strength, social values and norms compliance, professionalization, formal organizational structure, transparency and accountability, formal operating structure, institutional environmental compliance, corporate social responsibility, adherence to formal structure and delegation of powers, elements of institutionalization as; labor and process management, amount and cost of financial resources, has been put forth as elements of competitiveness. For the purposes of the study was developed to test hypotheses registered with the Istanbul Stock Exchange data obtained from 101 publicly traded companies, and these data were analyzed with regression analysis methods. Relations at this model were hypothesized and data obtained from 101 publicly traded corporations that are registered in Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE) in order to test them an various analyses were made by regression analysis method. At the end of analysis, it was determined that when the institutionalization level increases at these corporations, competitiveness increases. It is seen five hypotheses is supported at the end of analysis made intended for determination of effects of institutionalization facts to competitiveness facts. Finally, some recommendations based on the results are made for applications and further researches.It is thought that this thesis study is one of the leading studies that set forth relation of institutionalization and competitiveness.
