Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between leadership behaviors of physiotherapists and motivation. The study included 206 physiotherapists who were reached online, completed the questionnaire completely and accurately, and graduated in Turkey. In the study, the leadership behaviour scores of those who worked in private institutions, those who had children, those who had administrative duties, those who participated in programs related to physiotherapy, and those who worked as managers in their working life were found to have high leadership behaviour scores. According to the results of the sub-dimension of the Motivation Sources Inventory Scale, the motivation of physiotherapists increased when they were free to demonstrate their skills and make decisions, when they were compatible with the goals of the institution they worked for, and when they were rewarded for their efforts. According to the results of the study, there was a significant relationship between the sub-dimensions of the Leadership Orientations Scale and internal motivators among the sub-dimensions of the Inventory of Motivation Sources Scale (Human Resource r=0.350, Structural r=0.362, Political r=0.272, Symbolic r=0.250, p<0.01). It was found that there was a positive and weakly significant relationship between the goal internalization sub-dimension of the Motivation Sources Inventory Scale and the sub-dimensions of the Leadership Orientations Scale (Human Resource r=0,267, Structural r=0,218, Political r=0,212, Symbolic r=0,172, p<0,01). There is no statistically significant relationship between the Leadership Orientations Scale and Motivation Sources Inventory Scale. While physiotherapists exhibit the four types of leadership behaviors under the heading of leadership orientations, they are motivated by making decisions freely in accordance with their personalities and in the direction of their abilities and skills, and by acting in line with the mission of the institution they work for. Participating in trainings to be organized in the field of leadership will enable physiotherapists to improve in leadership.
