Abstract (EN)
Altough functional dyspepsia is a worldwide common disease, there is no complete treatment yet. Thus, alternative and supportive treatment methods are being searched and developed. The followings herbs Mentha x piperita, Cynara scolymus, Zingiber officinale, Asparagus racemosus, Curcuma longa, Foeniculum vulgare, Chelidonium majus, Gentiana lutea, Carum carvi, Artemisia absinthium and Taraxacum officinale are the ones which have been proved to be effective on the treatment of dyspepsia when used stand alone. Also STW 5 (Iberogast®), Ierobina®, Enteroplant®, Lomatol® and peppermint-ginger mixture are considered as effective combined pyhtotherapeutics in functional dyspepsia treatment. Combined preparations that contain plants which are proven to be effective with the data gathered from the usage in ages and from the experimental and clinical studies which support them, are also used effectively in the traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment for functional dyspepsia.Herbal medicines are found to be successful in the treatment for the functional dyspepsia with the experimental and clinical studies either used stand alone or as a mixture. With the reasons that the side effects are less and the effect is more than the known medicines, higher security profiles, lower costs, good evaluation of toleration by the patients and long time usage; herbal medicines are considered and evaluated as a hope for the treatment of functional dyspepsia.Key words: Dyspepsia, phytotherapy, phytotherapy for functional dyspepsia
