Abstract (EN)
Hemp seed oil has garnered increasing attention in the fields of health and cosmetic science due to its rich composition of bioactive compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Its diverse range of potential applications underscores its growing relevance in therapeutic and cosmetic formulations. The primary objective of this thesis is to develop a make-up removal balm incorporating hemp seed oil and to evaluate the quality, stability, and overall performance of the product through a comprehensive assessment of its physical and chemical properties. Oily cleansing balms are specifically formulated to remove long-wear and water-resistant make-up products as well as sunscreens, and are typically applied through gentle massage onto the skin, where they liquefy and lift away impurities. The formulations developed in this study contain hemp seed oil in combination with a blend of emollients, waxes, fatty alcohols, preservatives, and other functional excipients. These ingredients were selected to create a balm that softens upon contact with skin temperature, facilitating effective and gentle cleansing. Following formulation, a series of characterization studies were conducted, including evaluations of organoleptic properties, pH, stability testing, and an in vivo patch test to assess dermatological compatibility. Among the tested formulations, the formulation F10 demonstrated superior performance, exhibiting no phase separation, high physical stability, and overall favorable sensory characteristics. This study presents an innovative approach to the formulation and evaluation of hemp seed oil-based make-up remover balms. It is anticipated that the findings will contribute to the existing body of literature and support the broader application of hemp seed oil in cosmetic formulations, highlighting its potential as a valuable component in skincare product development.
