Photo reading, meaning and neuroaesthetic discipline relationship

Regardless of the subject, photography makes everything that exists in life visible. They are powerful indicators that enable people to express their feelings and wishes, and make it easier to make sense of the world they live in. They wait for the meaning beyond the visible to be discovered by the receiver and to be read like a book so that a new transmission can be produced. In this study, the main problem of the study is the question of what the function of the brain and the specialized areas of the visual brain, perception and effect can be in the process of photo reading and interpretation. Within the scope of this problem, the relationship between neuroaesthetics and photography discipline was examined in the study. However, the sub-problem of the study consists of making suggestions for the confusion and differences in the use and definitions of basic concepts such as reading photography and making sense. It is considered that the definition of some basic concepts should be clear and concise. In this study, it is aimed to explain the relationship with the neuroaesthetic discipline in line with the function of the brain in the processes of photo reading and interpretation, the activation and effect of the specialized areas of the visual brain. It is thought that the necessity of interdisciplinary interaction is important, and in this context, it is desired to bring a different perspective by contributing to more comprehensive studies and the development of new photo reading techniques. document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used to obtain the study data. In this direction, primary sources were tried to be reached with keywords, and secondary sources were also examined and evaluated in an integrated manner. In this context, the relationship between the discipline of neuroaesthetics and the processes of reading and making sense of the photograph is explained. In conclusion, as an effective stimulus, photographs help the recipient to act, remember, communicate, and see the reality of his feelings, thoughts and actions. The meaning waiting to be read in the photograph is perceived by the receiver with the help of the specialized areas of the visual brain, in line with the function of the brain. At this point, for the recipient to fully read and make sense of it, these areas must function properly and all the structural and visual elements used in the photographic composition must be known. In this direction, the receiver provides the continuity of the process by adding new meanings to the meaning in the photograph.
