Abstract (EN)
Image compression, which is one of the most industry-leading topics of academic studies in image processing, is a subject that is constantly evolving today and in the future. Past and present studies have been developed to meet the needs such as the best compression ratio, the best time and the best image quality. Compression methods have their own advantages and disadvantages. Lossy and lossless compression methods can be used for different purposes. One of the lossy compression methods, fractal compression, which is based on iteration theory and is assumed to consist of copies of each other, is a method open to development. Fractal compression methods and algorithms have been created based on the idea of using fractal features that are frequently encountered in nature and extracting the intrinsic qualities in images. Unmanned aerial vehicles, which are an indispensable technology of today, are likely to be in nature in terms of their general usage characteristics. In this study, the success of the fractal compression method in images taken from UAVs is tried to reveal the positive and negative aspects.
