Abstract (EN)

Frame is practiced as a tool and concept to bound the context, condition, object, etc., within the limits of physical boundary, has been considered to be a challenging input in visual studies and also in architecture. The definition of the frame and the act of framing has been altered in accordance with the discipline it is studied as well as the developments in technology and science, which update the tools and methods used to define the frame. With this agenda, the thesis considers photography and film as two specific fields of defining the frame, where the number of frames and the act of framing define the perception and the visual field of both the artist and the audience. Depending mainly on the singularity of the frame, photography is considered to define the initial input for the definition of the visual frame, which initiated the studies of their consecutive representation in film. Reflecting on the outputs of the singularity of frames in photography and the multiple use of frames in a film, the thesis associates the discussion with the infinite use of frames in the digital design medium. Considering the simulation as an extreme practice of framing where infinite number of frames are defined, processed, and represented easily, it is aimed to trace the outputs of this transformation in architectural design.
