ABSTRACT STRUCTURAL AND MEANINGAL ANALYZING OF "FUNÉRAILLES" FROM "HARMONIES POÉTIQUES ET RELIGIEUSES" BY FRANZ LISZT Tansu Timur ERKOÇ The aim of this study is to constitute a resource for educators and those who want to examine the work, especially piano performers, with the structural and semantic analysis of Franz Liszt's "Harmonies poétiques et religieuses". This study is a qualitative research using descriptive scanning and musical analysis methods. The literary documents obtained from the literature review were analyzed descriptively, and the score of the work was examined by musical analysis methods. In this context, the period when the work was composed and the musical features of this period were investigated, the life of the composer, his place in the Romantic Period music, his understanding of art, his contributions to the piano music and the works he composed for solo piano were examined. After that, the composition process of the work named "Funérailles" was examined in detail. Among the musical analysis methods, form analysis, harmonic analysis supporting the form, melodic analysis, character analysis and tonal design analysis were used as the work was a descriptive music. As a result, with the comprehensive analysis of this work, which reflects the musical style of the composer, a source was created about the work, and at the same time, an analysis model was created for the Romantic Period works, especially the other works of the composer.
