Abstract (EN)

One of the important works of German art songs, known as lied repertoire, is the 19th century composer Franz Schubert's album titled "Winterreise" op.89 (D.911). This album consists of poems written in 1821-1824 in Wilhelm Müller's poetry album "Gedichte aus den hinter lassenen Papieren eines reisenden Waldhornisten". While composing these lieds, Schubert transferred the themes and symbols in the poems to music using some particular techniques. This study, which examines the transfer of these symbols to music, consists of three main parts. In the first chapter, in which the historical method is used, the concept of lied, the German lied genre are explained. In the second part, the lives of Franz Schubert, the composer of the album, and the poet William Müller are mentioned. In addition, the formation process of the album was explained and the story in the content of the poem was mentioned. In the third chapter, which is the last part of the study, symbolic ideas in the work and the relationship between text and music are examined and shown with examples within the songs. As a result, in this study, in which the symbolism in the Winterrreise album of Franz Schubert, one of the important composers of the lied tradition, is examined and the composition of the songs from beginning to end, the common figures in the songs and their reflections in the music are explained.
