IV SUMMARY Masters Thesis A STUDY ON ALGAL FLORA OF NEW FISH PONDS OF CİP FISH HUSBANDRY CENTER OF FACULTY OF FISHERIES, FİRAT UNIVERSITY FerayÖZRENK Fırat University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Fisheries 1996, Page 61 In this study, algae occurring in nev fish ponds of Cip Fish Husbandry Center of Faculty of Fisheries, Fırat University vere investigated between September 1 994 and August 1 995. Algal flora of fish ponds consisted of Bacillariophyta (97 taxa),Chlorophyta(31 taxa), Cryptophyta (2 taxa), Cyanophyta (18 taxa), Dinophyta (1 taxon) and Euglenophyta (13 taxa). A total of 162 taxa belonging to these divislo vere recorded. Algae constituted pelagic communities in waters and epilithic communities on stones and vails of the ponds. Diatoms vere the most important algae both in pelagic and epilithic communities. M'tsseM* spp. vere recorded as the most conspicuous algae with respect to frequency of occurrence and population density in all ponds. These diatoms vere followed by Hamate and CymbtUs spp. Diatoms shoved their best growths in vinter and spring whilst they occurred in low numbers in other seasons.
