Abstract (EN)
In this study, different size and mass amount of carbon fiber used as reinforcement material were added in brake lining compositions and brake linings mixed carbon fiber were produced. The friction tests of produced brake linings in disc brake test device were performed and their performance were determined with Friction Assessment and Screening Test-FAST by composing friction coefficient- temperature graphics with obtained data. Micro structures of frictional surface of manufacturing samples were investigated by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analysis.Their physical and mechanical properties were determined by measuring the data of density, specific wear, surface roughness and hardness which are factors affect friction and wear charactarizations. High friction coefficients were obtained according to the results of tests. It was determined that the brake linings were produced according to standarts and carbon fiber could be used in brake lining as reinforcement material.
